On March 21–22 in Daly City, Guro Gregory Manalo and Guro Jay Jasper Pugao will be teaching a joint seminar honoring the method, practice, and legacy of Maestro Sonny Umpad and the Visayan Style Corto Kadena (VSCK) system at LEGACYFMA.
Day 1 – Foundations & Structure 3/21, 10:30a-430p
Open to beginners and competent practitioners.
We will focus on VSCK principles — timing, footwork, responsiveness, range recognition, and organic exchange of the Pendulum Flow. We will start off with the Pangamot/ Open hand training, then depending on the day, we will also do a focus on the medium and long range of the cane and the ore (Bugsay) of the VSCK system. Bring a long stick or cane. Stick size varies and can be from the floor to your hip.
Day 2 – The Blade, Responsibility & Advanced Concepts 3/22, 11a-4p
For competent and advanced practitioners only. Space is limited.
18 years and over.
Application required for the Sunday seminar. (Application will be accessible on the website or sent once practitioners registers).
This day will also start with Pangamot/ Open hands then will go deeper into edged-weapon strategy, deception, higher-level skill set, and the responsibility that comes with training advanced knife material. Bring knife trainers.

Saturday (3/21) is a sliding scale of $75-$100 for the early-bird rate ($100 at the door), and Sunday (3/22) is $100 ($110 at the door). Space is limited. The application will be sent to the practitioners once you reserve for the Sunday seminar.
